About Garth

A wise mentor once said to me:

"Listen to your patient - they will tell you what is happening".

All too often when we see practitioners, we are told what is wrong with us.  Yes - practitioners are educated, trained to look for certain signs of dysfunction.  There is however, no greater authority on the state of your body than yourself.  A great practitioner understands this, and rather than focusing on giving a diagnosis or label, instead listens to their patient and helps them understand why they feel what they feel and using their education and clinical experience, creates a therapeutic process that guides the patient back to their optimal state of being.

Garth completed his chiropractic studies at Macquarie University, graduating with a Masters in Chiropractic in 2003.  Since then he has been focussed on creating a therapeutic approach and toolkit to address the myriad of different patient presentations.  Further studies in NET (Neuro-Emotional Technique), Applied Kinesiology, Chinese Medicine/Acupuncture and the Aura-Soma Colour Care System gave Garth the opportunity to develop a truely holistic and multi-modal approach to his practice.  His first clinic, established with wife Tegan in 2005 in Dubbo NSW, was created to help patients understand and work with their own mind-body connection, getting to the root of their chronic physical and biomechanical problems.

After relocating to Newcastle in 2013, Garth established Conscious Bodywork as an extension to what he had already been offering in Dubbo.  He has a special interest in Pregnancy and Paediatrics, as well as a keen interest in supporting patients with trauma backgrounds and PTSD.

Garth has now returned to Macquarie University to study Medicine and is looking to specialise in general practice upon the completion of the degree.
